Her Name Was Celebration

One of the first posts I wrote, I wore this super scandalous dress. Why is it super scandalous, you may ask? Well. It’s see-through. I remember I found it at TJ Maxx and loved the way it fit on me so much that I bought it despite the fact that it was a floral sheer dress. I wore it with spandex and a nude bralette (the way I always wear under my see-through shirts). For whatever reason, I decided to wear that ensemble to the hells of high school. No one said anything but wearing a see-through dress in a high school? I’m sure some 15-year-old girl was totally judgin’. Well, maybe, maybe not but I felt totally self-conscious in it. So I put it away in the back of my closet for two years and only looked at it longingly.

So yeah, literally the last time I had worn this lovely yet floral sheer dress was May 16th, 2014 when I wrote the post “The Other Olivia“. [[You should totally take a look at it for a good laugh! I cringe laugh because EVERYTHING is out of focus. Oh the good old days of a beginner blogger! *cries*]] I pulled it out recently to do this photo shoot and fell back in love with it again. I wore it the same way except with a hat, leather jacket, and fun cat-eye sunnies! While I haven’t worn it since I did the photo shoot-I did bring it to college in hopes that I will again!

This post’s #FaBComments is: What are your thoughts on sheer-clothing? Would you rock it with confidence or shrink away in self-consciousness? ***Thoughtful, inspiring, or helpful comments might get tweeted on my twitter account -OR- you can tweet your own answer @oliviamonopoli and using the hashtag #FaBComments [Fashion Blogger Comments] (Feel free to use the convenient Twitter widget on my sidebar!)***

I remember when you commented about the dress, such a pity, because it is really beautiful! But with something underneath there’s a way to save it :) I liked the boots too, and I bought a dress too, that when I saw at home was totally transparent. Such a pity. I never wore it, and recently I saw it – it is beautiful, but why the company didn’t put a thin layer underneath? Much simpler :) You look lovely, very sweet as usual!

Honestly, how adorable are you? Despite it being see-through, I think you’re rocking it! The jacket defo adds a cool element to the entire look.

I’m ALL for sheer pieces, but my momma isn’t. Ha! Sheer pieces are great for layering because of the lightweight material(s) (INSULATION); extremely important if you live in 32*C weather all year round!

Scandalous indeed. I love the dress though, it’s perfect for the warm weather in the pics and when you tie the jacket on your waist it’s less scandalous. This is definitely an outfit i’d wear but knowing my country I’d definitely be undressed on the streets, such a pity.So I’d probably be forced to wear it on the beach as cover-up for the swimwear…probably.
Love the pairing though, especially the booties and the sunglasses.
